Maximon
The syncreticism of Mayan Folk Catholicism.
Mayan Folk Cathoicism worships as saints: Lucifer, Judas, San Simon or Maximon (pronounced ´Ma-Shee-Mon´), Rey Pascual and others...much to the chagrin of the Vatican...but it has absolutely nothing to do with the Church of Satan variety of Devil worship espoused in the ´first world.´
Briefly, Mayan Priests utilize these saints as intermediaries or helpers to cast out illness, ´evil spirits,´or misfortune, as God has enlisted these fallen 'saints' to perform duties as healers for earth bound men and women in order to redeem their souls before God.
